Please note: GoDaddy has ZERO control of Google Rankings or frequency of site crawls
My site does not come up on a Google search.
If you recently published your site, you will need to wait for Google to index your site information. This process can take up to 6 months. You can help to push it along with a Google Webmaster account AKA Google Search Console. Click here to set up a Search Console.
When I Google my site, I am seeing the old version or incorrect information.
This is typically because Google needs to Re-Index your site. You can use the Google Search Console to tell Google how often to re-crawl and index your site and see when the last time it was crawled.
You can also submit a re-crawl request by following the steps outlined here.
How do I add Google Analytics to my site?
There are two methods to adding Google Analytics to your site.
Note: You do need an account with Google set up in order to achieve this.
- You can use the GA tag for a script in the head tag of the site. Follow this Google Article for more information.
- Keep in mind we need the entire script listed on that article, not just the GA tag.
- You can add the GoDaddy approved plugin Site Kit by Google
For W+M site, please follow this article: https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-google-analytics-to-my-site-27179
Can I put ads on my site?
Sure! Here are two different ways to put ads on your site.
Google Ad Sense: Simply provide us the code generated in your Ad Sense account and let us know where you want it and we will add it for you.
Manual Ads: As long as you provide us with the image and link, we can put this information in the desired place on the site like you would with any image or link.
Can I add a visitor counter?
If you are looking for a front of site visitor counter where site visitors can see how many people have visited, this is out of scope for GoDaddy. A 3rd party plugin or developer can add this, but we will not touch it.
If you are looking to simply track the visitors of the site you will need Google Analytics. Please see the above tab for more information on Google Analytics.
Google Console Error Message
If you get any of the following Google Console error messages
- “Text is too small on mobile”
- “Content wider that screen on mobile”
- “Clickable items too close to each other on mobile”
This may be caused by a bug in the Managed WordPress CDN. Disabling the CDN is generally recommend for all sites and should resolve this issue. Don’t forget to flush the cache after disabling the CDN as well.
If disabling the CDN does not resolve the errors please open a ticket with the following information so we can investigate further.
- the page name
- device details
- a screenshot
