Logo Initial Call Guide

Greeting

Hi, this is [your name] from GoDaddy Website Design Services. Is [customer name] available? [PAUSE for response] How are you today?

I’m calling you for your logo consultation.

Our call today should take just about 15 minutes.

And you’re near a computer, right? You’ll need it in a few minutes.

By the way, before we get into things, I want to let you know that this call will be recorded and retained for quality and training purposes.

Ok, in order for me to open up your account, I’ll just need your PIN. [PAUSE for response]

Great! First, I want to thank you for working with us! I’ll be your main point of contact throughout the process.
[PAUSE for response]

Confirm that the customer is the main point of contact and confirm their email.

Today, our call will cover 2 main points. First, I’ll tell you some more about what you can expect from our design team. Then, we’ll talk about your goals for your logo -- including what you like, what you don’t like, any branding work you may want us to build on, or any ideas you have. Sound good?

[PAUSE for response]

Our designers will take the info we discuss today and use their expertise to deliver 3 possible logos for you to review. We aim to have these early examples created and ready for review within 5 business days.

When you receive these initial examples, maybe you'll immediately know that one is the right one for your business, and our work is done! But if that’s not the case, we will schedule a Review Call where we can choose and discuss how to improve upon one of your 3 examples. Our designers will implement these edits and we’ll send you your finalized logo! So, from start to finish, we aim to have your completed logo in your hands and ready to use in no more than 8 business days. Sounds good, right!?

Do you have any questions I can answer about any of that? [PAUSE for response]

  • If a customer has questions about the review call, let them know that it’s optional, but we’ve found that the process is much smoother if we go ahead and get it on the books at the time of the consultation. Let them know that if they’d like to publish their site as-is and skip the review call or use it to publish and talk about final steps, they have that option, as well.

Business Consultation: Logo

Let’s Get started - Can you confirm the spelling of your business name - I have [SPELL IT OUT], is that correct?

[PAUSE for response]

And can you tell me a little about your business?

[PAUSE for response]

Does your business have a website?

[PAUSE for response]

[If YES]

Great! Can you confirm your website domain?

And finally, do you have a tagline or catchphrase you want us to use in your Logo?

[PAUSE for response]

Ok, great! So now we’re going to talk about your design options!

Do you have a logo that you’d like to use as a reference? [PAUSE for response]

[If YES]

Awesome! Do you have it handy now?

[Instruct customer on how to send logo via email]

Do you have any logos that you like the look of that you’d like to use as inspiration?

[If YES]

Ask them for the link and look through the site for inspiration for the following sections.

I can also include this link for our designers.

[If NO]

No? Ok, let’s look at some example logos together, we can chat about your visual preferences so I can give your designer great direction.

[Direct the customer to visit OurLogoStudio.com to view samples of logos]

[For symbolic or abstract logos, make sure you are digging deep to understand what visual elements the customer is responding to and why. For example - “I like The FedEx logo” tells us a little, but “I love the colors of the FedEx logo, and the hidden arrow in the font is so cool!” tells us more. If you customer doesn’t offer up more info about their likes/dislikes make sure to ask.]

Design Consultation: Colors

[If the customer does not have a logo for reference]

Ok, let’s talk about colors. We consider three things when deciding on a color scheme: the overall visual tone you’re going for, your target audience, and readability.

Do you have one or two brand colors you know you want incorporated? Or would you like for us to choose those colors for you?

[PAUSE for response - If Customer has Specific colors in mind, make sure you get the Hex Codes!]

[If customer needs more color direction]

Based on what I know of your business so far, I would suggest colors that are [adjective]

Some shade of black, white, or gray can be added as a contrasting color.

If you would like, add additional descriptors to each font to help the customer understand the tone it conveys:

  • Edgy: informal, handwritten, creative
  • Formal: script, classy, romantic
  • Handwriting: casual, stylish
  • Impact: bold, heavy,
  • Industrial: typewriter feel, classic
  • Modern: simple and clean
  • Playful: young, easygoing
  • Traditional: serif font, good for conservative, high-end feel
  • You may not use all the information on this page — the additional descriptors are here to help guide the discussion if needed.
  • These are only 8 of 800+ fonts listed on the Google Fonts' site. The idea is to get an understanding of the business image the customer is trying to portray. The customer may like a font that isn't listed here or you may think of a different font that would suit them best.
